David Littlefield was born and raised in Orange, Texas. After high school, he made his way to College Station, and he received a Bachelor of Engineering degree in 1979. He and his wife Julie, a retired education administrator, made their home in Lake Jackson, Texas, where they raised 3 children. David travelled the world while working for Dow Chemical to share his mechanical engineering expertise before retiring in 2014.

In the summer of 2018, David and his wife moved to San Antonio to be near their daughter Emily (a Junior League of San Antonio Board Member), their son-in-law Steve, and their son Clayton. They also have a son, Aubrey, in Ashville, North Carolina. David continues his lifelong passion of ministry through the Catholic Church by volunteering in prison ministry through the Archdiocese of San Antonio.
