Dawn Walker graduated from Vanderbilt University and the University of Texas School of Law. She started at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld over ten years ago, and serves as an Assistant General Counsel for the law firm. Dawn also gives her time back to the community. She has been involved with the Junior League of San Antonio for nine years and has served as a Board Member for three terms, including positions as Property Chair, Secretary, and Nominating Chair. Along with work at the Junior League of San Antonio, Dawn is on the Education/Operations Committee of the DoSeum and has served on the DoSeum’s Luncheon Committee. She has four children and regularly volunteers at their schools as well, serving as Class Representative and Annual Fund Class Chair. Her husband, Bruce Walker, is a Portfolio Manager at Broadway Bank. Together, they work hard to set an example of community leadership for their children.
Why have you decided to serve as a Trailblazer for the JLSA?
As a JLSA board member, I have seen Clarity’s impact firsthand. I want to help the Junior League advance San Antonio’s mental wellness resources for children.
Who and/or what inspires you to pave a path in our community (be a community leader/participant)?
I believe I have a responsibility to the growth and improvement of my community and to raise my children eventually to serve their communities as well.
