1) Why have you decided to serve as a Trailblazer for the JLSA?

There are so many reasons that it was an easy "yes" for me to be on the inaugural team of Trailblazers but probably the biggest reason is that Clarity Guidance Center has always been near and dear to my heart. Not only through the Junior League of San Antonio but as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner dealing with mental health issues on a daily basis, I see the value and dedication that both of these organizations pour into everything they set out to accomplish. The need for further mental health services  in San Antonio (or Texas or the entire country) is only growing, and I hope by this campaign that children everywhere will get the help they need to be the best they can be! I'm happy to help with this campaign and hope to build a program that any organization can pick up in any city and make mental health a topic we are all discussing on a daily basis to make change.

2) Who and/or what inspires you to pave a path in our community?

My biggest inspiration are the children who I treat on a daily basis who don't have a person to talk to or a place to go to get treatment or counseling for obvious mental health disorders. There are so many children out there who cannot get mental health services due to lack of services, no insurance, or the facility doesn't accept federal insurance programs (WHAT?). These kids are falling through the cracks and having long term consequences for untreated mental health illness during childhood. If we can be a part of expanding programs in San Antonio and making mental health services more available for everyone who needs services, then sign me up!!
