Rodney Gray, founder and CEO of Wave Healthcare, may be Kentucky-born but he was Texas-raised. He graduated from Alamo Heights High School in 1980 and went on to get his associate's degree from Itawamba College in Mississippi. The following year he became a board-certified respiratory therapist. He returned to San Antonio and worked with local hospitals as a respiratory therapist. In 1991, he entered homecare when he joined Gentiva Health Services as a Director of Respiratory Therapy, specializing in neonatal pediatric transitioning of patients from hospital to home. During his 17 years with Gentiva, he was promoted to Director of Respiratory and Home Medical Equipment (HME), and then became Branch Manager and, eventually, the Sr. Accounts Executive to promote high-tech pediatric Durable Medical Equipment (DME).

In 2007, having established solid relationships with several San Antonio pediatric pulmonologists, both personally and professionally, Rodney left Gentiva to pursue his own venture…Wave Healthcare. It is an exclusively pediatric respiratory Durable Medical Equipment (DME) company with a primary focus on improving healthcare for children. Physicians around the state continue to rely heavily on the skills and expertise from Rodney and his staff in transitioning patients safely to the homecare environment.

In 2017, Rodney started Sail Healthcare, which is an adult respiratory company, so that Wave patients that were transitioning to adult DMEs could have the same excellent care and service they are accustomed to. Both companies continue to thrive, and he is proud that his path in life has provided him with an opportunity to improve healthcare for so many in our community.
